At Daytripper Dog Training we teach you how to train your dog. We feel that it's important for you to develop the skills to teach your dog desired behaviours because, after all, it's you that lives with your dog. The methods we use are all positive, but don't confuse that with permissive. Dogs need guidelines and boundaries. Let us help you establish what works best for you and your dog whether it's your new puppy, your family pet or your canine athlete. |

Agility is taught off-leash in a very stimulating environment. Picture you and your dog in an area where other dogs are playing, running, jumping. If that picture makes you want to run for the hills this is the course for you. We’ll work on getting your dog off-leash and learning impulse control and to focus on you in a distracting environment. The exercises are progressive, so it’s important to attend each of the six weeks and to practice between classes. If participating in agility is a goal for you and your dog, this class will help you reach that goal. Even if you have no plans to get into agility, this is a fun and challenging class for you and your dog to learn together and improve your dog’s focus in the presence of distractions. BAT (Behaviour Adjustment Training) Behavior Adjustment Training, or BAT, rehabilitates dog reactivity by looking at why the dog is reactive and helping him meet his needs in other ways, rather than barking and lunging. In a nutshell, BAT is a dog-friendly application of ‘functional analysis’ that gives the dogs a chance to learn to control their own comfort level through peaceful means. It’s very empowering to your dog, in a good way. It helps dogs gain confidence and social skills. It is a very practical method of modifying reactive behaviour. This course is for dogs that bark and lunge at other dogs or people while on leash. Trick training is so much fun but when you think about it, everything we teach our dogs is a trick. Sit, down, come and heel are tricks just as much as spin, rollover and scratch your nose. It’s all a trick but some are just more fun to teach our dogs.
There are no pre-requisites for this course; even young puppies can participate. As with all of our classes, dogs must be friendly when meeting new dogs in order to participate in a group class.

This is a common lament that we hear from our students. Once you practice at home it’s time to take the show on the road, so to speak, by training in a real world situation. Not sure how to go about this? Do we have the class for you! Our Real World Training course is taught outdoors and we cover all the basics such as sit, down, come and walking nicely on leash. For those dogs that already know the basics, there is a twist. The twist is that the training is outdoors on grass. We’ll introduce a whole new set of distractions, the kind of distractions you’ll encounter with your dog on a daily basis in the real world, and we’ll help you learn to deal with those distractions, taking your training to the next level.
