At Daytripper Dog Training we teach you how to train your dog. We feel that it’s important for you to develop the skills to teach your dog desired behaviours because, after all, it’s you that lives with your dog. The methods we use are all positive, but don’t confuse that with permissive. Dogs need guidelines and boundaries. Let us help you establish what works best for you and your dog whether it’s your new puppy, your family pet or your canine athlete. |
Agility Training PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE INSTRUCTION: Private Lessons Semi Private Lessons GROUP CLASSES:IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING ALL OF OUR OUTDOOR CLASSES: Our outdoor classes are taught at our training facility near Valentia, Ontario. Classes are taught on grass in a fully fenced and gated ring. Because the course is taught outdoors, occasionally an evening may be postponed due to weather. Classes will pick up the following week where they left off, allowing for a full six week course. WINTER CLASSES: Our winter classes are taught in an indoor, unheated riding arena in the hamlet of Oakwood. Agility courses are six weeks in duration, each class being 50 minutes in length. Occasionally it may be necessary to postpone classes due to weather. If that's the case classes will pick up the following week where they left off, allowing for a full six week course. FOUNDATION SKILLS AGILITY I Whether you are new to agility or you have a new agility dog, this is the place to start. This course will help build your dog’s confidence, focus and motivation and build a strong foundation for future agility training. You and your dog will learn acceleration and deceleration cues, ‘shadow handling’, forward focus, targeting, basic jumping, tunnels, table, the travel plank and wobble board, along with the ever important ‘2 on/2 off’ position required for the contact obstacles. Many of the exercises in this course can be taught at home without the use of agility equipment. This course is safe for young pups/dogs, as jumps will be set very low for the duration of the course. Pre-requisites: This course is taught off leash, so good off-lead control in a stimulating, distracting environment (other dogs running, jumping, playing tug, other people, lots of activity, etc) is required. The minimum basic obedience requirements are a good recall ('come' when called) and stay. Please see our “But I Wanna Do Agility!” course (on our Obedience page) if your dog needs more training in a distracting environment. Crate training is strongly recommended for this class. To give the dogs down-time, both mentally and physically, they will be crated between exercises. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this requirement. In order to participate in group agility classes dogs must not demonstrate any aggression towards other dogs or people. Agility is a dog sport the handlers in this class will be required to be very physical -- running, bending, playing with their dogs and more. If you would like more details about this requirement, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Please note that class may be postponed due to bad weather, so please contact us to verify start dates listed below.

If you have not participated in one of our instructional fun matches in the past these are fun matches with a twist. Rather than simply running the course, Lane White, our head instructor and Masters level judge, will walk each course with the participants providing handling suggestions. Participants will then run the course and after their run, each participant will receive input from Lane on how to improve their course run and have the opportunity to implement those changes during another course run. Food and toys are welcome in the ring. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors on grass in a fully fenced and gated ring. The fun matches will run rain or shine | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
