Though this game appears simple, it’s quite challenging. It will take time for both you and your dog to learn this game. Stick with it. You’ll be glad you did.

Catch can be a standalone game and is an excellent strategy for dealing with distractions. Catch also increases the value of food rewards. There are times when delivering a food reward to your dog’s mouth is the best option. There are other times when you can increase the value of the food reward by making it a fun activity. 

It is also the first step to teaching Magic Hand, which will transform your dog’s loose leash walking. 

TOP TIP:  If your dog is struggling to catch, try

• dropping the treat from only 3-4”

• using larger pieces of food that are more visible for your dog.
