Noise Box
Imagine how much more interesting mealtime would be if you fed your dog it’s daily food allowance by playing this game!
The set-up in this video is advanced. Introduce your dog to the game by using just two or three safe items (no sharp edges) items in a container or box that your dog can easily step into. Toss some of your dog’s daily food allowance into the box and watch your dog. Over several sessions you can begin to make the game more challenging.
The dog in this video is 14. Noise Box was an activity he could easily do without too much strain on his body, and you can see he absolutely loves it.
TOP TIPS:
Do not lure your dog to get him/her into the box. That's too much pressure for many dogs.
If your dog seems at all worried, make the game easier by using just one or two bottles. You can even put one or two bottles on the floor and scatter food around them (no box to begin).
If your dog is hesitant, avoid encouraging and chattering. Again, that can be too much pressure. If your dog is at all hesitant to engage, that's good information for you and this game is perfect. Train the dog in front of you by adjust the game for your dog -- strip it back to just two or three bottles on the floor.
Allowing your dog to make the choice to participate is important. Choice is powerful and builds confidence. Have fun!!
