There are three levels to this game. Practice all three. Level 1 is best used when your dog locks on to a distraction and struggles to disengage. Level 2 can be used when your dog has noticed the distraction and you want to increase distance before your dog struggles to disengage. Level 3 is for those times when you notice a distraction, your dog isn’t struggling, yet you want to increase the distance before your dog begins struggling.

Rewind is another game in your “loose leash walking toolkit”.  By playing this game frequently on walks, your dog will begin focusing on you increasingly. Your dog’s focus will improve. Before you know it, your dog will be looking at you, waiting for the game! Reward when your dog looks at you (that’s spontaneous disengagement!) and both disengagement and loose leash walking will improve.
